Components of the Stainless Steel Turnbuckle

The Turnbuckle consists mainly of the body of the turnbuckle and its own threaded end fittings, to which nuts can be added at both ends if required.

There are two types of Turnbuckle body: an open body, where the threads of the end fittings are not encased in the body and cannot be seen, and a closed body, where the threads of the end fittings are encased in the body with a hole in the middle where a straight tool can be inserted to turn the body. Once the ends of the end fittings are fixed, the swivel body can be turned to expand or contract the end fittings to adjust the tension.

There are various types of end fittings as below,

The eye end and threaded rod end are all ring-shaped. For galvanized turnbuckles, the eye end ring is generally closed, unless it is a very small size, then either forged or welded. For stainless steel turnbuckles, the eye ends are generally welded. This eye-end fitting is very strong.

The hook end, which is the easiest and quickest end fitting to attach and release, certainly does not slip off as easily as the eye end.

Jaw ends are easy to attach and release, yet secure and strong.

Stub/threaded ends are steel rods with standard threads on the end for separating or pushing objects apart.

Nuts, which you can fit on both ends of the end fittings, prevent loosening.

Why is the price of forged stainless steel high?
